Position Title: Common Services (HR/Accounting) Assistant

Starting Salary: RD$658,630.00 annual (plus benefits)

country.

Essential qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate clearly how they meet the language, education and experience requirements listed below:

Language: 

High level proficiency in English and Spanish, written and spoken. French language proficiency is an asset.

Experience:

At least 2 years’ experience providing Human Resources and/or Financial support in a professional office environment; experience using Microsoft Office software including MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Experience using database systems and entering data.

Education: 

Completed post-secondary education and/or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position. 

Knowledge and abilities:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures related to administration (including HR and financial procedures);
  • Knowledge of tracking budget expenditures and invoices;
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping or accounts payable/receivables;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage and develop administrative systems, including overtime and appraisal systems;
  • Ability to provide advice to management on Dominican labour market and practices;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage a variety of responsibilities and shift priorities as required;
  • Ability to make written translations and verbal interpretations between English and Spanish;
  • Ability to prepare well written and accurate correspondence;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Ability to organise and maintain detailed filing system for Human Resource and Financial archives;
  • Ability to negotiate and maintain health insurance contracts on behalf of Locally Engaged Staff.

Asset qualifications:

  • Proficiency in in the use of both of Canada’s official languages (English and French);

Operational requirements:

Ability and willingness to work overtime, often on short notice. 

Conditions of employment:

Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada’s security clearance. Maintain the ability to work legally in the Dominican Republic.
